What happened during the 1998 camp?

Senior High Aqua Camp started off with a record breaking showing of campers. These youths show up bright-eyed and fired up for a week of water activities, bonding with friends, and spiritual growth.

The theme for the week was "Come Follow Me". But ask the typical camper and they’ll say that 9 times out of 10, that the theme is not what draws them to the magnificent sight. It was a good theme
though, and it held attention.

On Tuesday Night Paul Hudson blessed us with his wonderful singing ability by singing this year’s camp hit, "I’m my own Grandpa". Then,for an encore he sang "If I only had a brain". Let me tell you, it was quite an experience. That same night was the night of the sleep out under the stars. Well, it was good until about 2.00 or 3.00 in the morning when we got a torrential deluge draped over us.

The next day was the float trip and the water was cold and it was cloudy a majority of the trip but all in all it turned out to be a great day.

The barbecue is traditionally on the same day as the float trip but somehow it found itself on Thursday evening. Near the end of the barbecue, Lee Watson, the camp clown, and a few others decided to take a fully clothed dip in the lake. This spread like wild fire, and soon everyone was in the water and those who weren’t were either escorted to the water or more bluntly thrown in.

"Talent, no talent" night was also held on Thursday evening. Paul Hudson sang again! Some of the talent was Chris Acre playing guitar and singing and Wes Taylor balanced a chair on his chin. Some of the no talent was passing bananas in a cup, need I say more, Lee catching a gold fish in his mouth and, Singled Out, where I dressed in drag and unsuccessfully imitated Jenny McCarthy. All in all the week was a blast. We hope you all show up next year.
