Dear Jack, I thought about you a lot before you passed away.....I wish I could have seen you one more time. I heard so much, even as a kid at Grandmere's house in Denver, and over the years, about your heroism during the war, your fantastic fly fisherman skills and what an impressive speed boat competitor you were. Our families lost touch somewhat, but I am happy to see you lived your life where you were happiest - in the great outdoors. I know your Mom and Dad, Ray, Mimi, Bob, Jerry and Jean were all waiting for you, as well as your beloved dogs, when you went home......rest in peace. Love, your niece Lynn…

I haven't seen Jack or Doris for some time now but will always remember some very happy memories of them both. Some of them are from northern Sask. at the campground when Jack would make smoked jackfish in his homemade smokehouse. It was the best jackfish I had ever tasted. I also have happy memories when he lived in Bonners Ferry and we were living in Creston, BC. The road back and forth was travelled alot during that time.
Jack is no longer with us but his memory will live on forever!!So sorry for you all - you are in my prayers!!

Some of my favourite memories are of going on drives in the bush with dad, Steve and Grandpa, working on the Bonners Ferry house, and listening to his stories of Lac la Plonge. I still have his old mountain bike that he gave me, which he was riding around Coeur'd Alene well into his 70s; it's something that'll always remind me of him.

It really struck me as I looked at the photos, some of which I'd never seen before, what a full and adventurous life Grandpa led. He saw a lot of changes in his life and went through so much adversity that we'll never be able to fully understand.

Thanks for putting this site together Steve and Lisa, and for taking such good care of Grandpa all these years.

I remember when Jack & Doris came to visit & help weed
the garden. They showed up with their hats & boots. Jack
loved the fruit trees & the vegies, especially the
strawberry pies. (Doris did to) They both loved to work!
They were like our family. We had the benefit when they
moved to Kanab of being a home for Steve to come to from
college for time off. We looked forward always to him coming!
We'll miss you Jack and always remember the special memories
we had together. May you rest in peace! You left a trail
of proud moments & honors you accumalted in your life.(As Steve
worked so hard to share with us) Thanks Steve!

Jack,
I will remember the many stories you told and your joking (or not so joking - sometimes I couldn't tell) ways about certain things of how life should be. We will remember you always.

Lisa, Steve, Brian, Linda, and families;
Please call on us if you need anything.

Doris;
We are deeply sorry for your loss. We'll see you on Saturday.

Our prayers are with you all!

Jack lived for awhile at Coeur d' Alene Homes where I am the Administrator. He was one of my favorite heroes. A man who spoke his mind with chosen and sometimes colorful language but full of stories rich in history and tale of adventure. A man with a single goal of living humbly with others. A man with two hearts. A silver heart for bravery well earned in the heat of combat and a red heart of compassion shared with those who lived crippled in their own way by discrimination, hunger or want.

Jack was larger than life and if your friend then a friend for life. I haven't seen Jack for sometime but every once in awhile I think of him. And now with his death I think what a loss his passing is to me personally and the world he embraced.
